We spent our time in St. Louis at this hotel. The room was excellent. There was a tv, 2 large beds, a desk, and a chair. The bathroom was handicap friendly which made it easy for our family to get in. However the toilet was just a little low. Breakfast was wonderful our server willie was the best server Ive had at a hotel. He went out of the way to get us turkey sausages because we dont eat pork. Other details about this hotel is that the swimming pool is a little small and is not meant for more then 20 people there is a laundry room for guests. Also breakfast is $11 per person. Overall this hotel was greats for our family and friends.
I'd like to start by saying I've worked in the service industry for a few years and I understand that the job is difficult and unpleasant most of the time. But from beginning to end, staying here was a pretty awful experience. When I came to check in, the nice lady at the front desk told me that my room was available but that the hotel would be shutting off all of its power around 1pm that day. I told her that was okay. We could get lunch and come back. At about 2:45 we came back to try to check in again. This time her manager was there and told me that they had just shut the power off and it would be another hour from then. She was rude and standoffish. There was no apology. She didn't seem to care that guests were expecting to/paid to check in at 3pm. In my email confirmation, there was no warning or courtesy call to inform me that there may be delays when checking in. The rooms were nice. The hotel itself was in good shape and pretty clean. The next morning we went to the breakfast. It is not complementary. The buffet was 10 dollars a person. The food was not even worth 10 dollars. It is exactly what you would find at a complementary breakfast buffet but actually worse. The service was terrible. I never received the beverage I ordered and no one filled our waters. We were not told that we had the option of ordering off of an actual breakfast menu. For the price, I'd say this hotel was not worth it at all. The management is poor. I really wish I had stayed somewhere else.
We spent a last minute vacation at this hotel. The swimming pool was very small, but the rooms and breakfast was excellent. One of the days, we didnt get housekeeping. The bath/shower towels were very thin and didnt take full affect. If you ever come to this hotel, always ask for Willie to be your waiter for breakfast. We dont eat pork, and he went out of his way to get us some turkey sausage links.
This place is nestled in downtown St. Louis and provides a broad variety of sandwiches. There are a couple of soups and salads available as well. The chips they make in house were a little old but still crisp and kettle cooked. Slim variety of beverage options. This place would be a five once they correct these minor items. The sandwiches are the star of the show.
Okay, so I have to admit, I went back and forth between 4 and 5 Stars, but I have to give Dana and the rest of the morning front desk staff credit for being the reason they got that last star. I was going to a concert at the Dome, so this hotel made perfect sense! When it comes to rooms, if youre on the second floor, ask for an outer room. If youre on the inside of the corridor, youre on the same level as the pool and it feels weird opening your windows/you arent really getting natural sunlight other than the skylights above the pool. (But thats just a minor thing, no real noise issues from that after quiet hours). My one experience at the bar/restaurant wasnt great, but it was because two people called out so they only had two servers/bartenders and the manager was kind of helping? I witnessed a few people walk out before I myself did too. None of these people had placed orders and everyone seemed understanding, but frustrated. Amber (i believe was her name) seemed great and was trying to balance everything, but the other guy, whose name started with an M, just seemed to be struggling and slowing her/the operation down. But my absolute favorite part of this visit was Dana and the morning staff. They were great with recommendations for food & Dana convinced me to give the Bird/Lime scooters a try, which were so much fun. And it was something they remembered about me as I came back both days, so I would stop and chat with them. I wish I remembered the name of the other two people working with her because they were just as great!!
