Staff is nice enough but the hotel is fairly old. My room was about as small as you could get. I could barely get my suitcase through the door. The bathroom was tiny with an even tinier shower. Very little storage area and without a suitcase stand. Being close to many restaurants is its saving grace.
Traveled here for business. My room was nicely decorated and very pleasant. I really liked the vintage 50's motel style, but it's been modernized. And the lady at the front desk checking me in was very kind in taking care of an elderly man in front of us, offering him a wheelchair.
I have stayed at this location in the past and recently it has drastically approved. I was there last week and I noticed the staff was very diligent about cleaning, making repairs, and overall making general improvements, such as painting and up keeping of the grounds. The staff at the front desk was very professional, kind, fast and efficient! The breakfast was delightful and the overall experience was pleasurable. The price was very affordable for such a nice area such as the Central West End in Saint Louis. Would recommend!
The staff was nice, but I wouldn't say friendly; They definitely were not rude, however. One of the elevators was tremendously small and could barely fit four people with averagely sized luggage; However, that was the only one that lead to the parking garage. The other elevator was a little bit bigger, but could probably only fit one other person with averagely sized luggage. If you were closer to one, you would have to walk down a hall or two to get to the other one. The double Queen room was TINY. Both beds had a side that was super close to the wall which is not optimal when you have some people sharing a bed. The bathroom was clean, but it was EXTREMELY tiny. You could barely get out of it, as the door swung in. The toilet was WAY too close to the counter, so you have to sit diagonally on sideways unless you are super skinny. It's not like they had too much room on the other side either, but the sink and counter definitely impeded the amount of toilet space. The ceiling in the bathroom was also super low. I could touch it with my hand without stretching or going onto my toes, and I am 5'4. The beds were nice and comfy, however. They squeaked when you sat on them, but surprisingly, not when you moved around on them. Overall, it was a nice hotel, but it would not be my first choice.
I would describe this place as a vintage hotel. The rooms were small and still had a faint smokey smell but it had a quirky "old hotel" feel to it. No pool but there was a small fitness center and decent free breakfast. Staff was friendly and service was good. The elevator was very slow and once on my floor I had a long maze-like walk to my room. There was a free parking garage for guests which was great.
