Another great public library with tours. Highly recommend going on the short tour and learning about the architecture. So much of the detail has meaning
Nice renovation but I wish I could give it a zero. Winos camp out in the restroom and the cops on guard there make the hairs stand up on your neck. Very rude, aggressive, and arrogant. They must pick the worst cops in the city to work there. Makes you feel more like a criminal than a patron. Some (not all) of the staff are rude and unfriendly. The place smells like a refugee camp, very musty and sweaty mixed with genitals (no joke). Unmatched selection offsets mean atmosphere but frankly I'd pass on it.
The library is absolutely beautiful and the staff is so welcoming! If you visit, please go to the philosophy and psychology section and there is an extremely friendly woman who ABSOLUTELY loves her job and will give you some fun history about the library. It was such a fun stop in St. Louis, and I highly recommend it!
